Bed & Breakfast Suite at The Wooded Retreat!

Comfortable and peaceful, amid the trees Positive: Beautiful and well-equipped. The setting was peaceful, amid the trees and with nice flowers, and the home was pretty and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, the tub and bath salts great for a soak, and the little porch pleasant for sitting and sipping a hot beverage. The drink and snack drawer was a thoughtful touch. The property was a short drive from the highway and easily accessible. The spa/gym in another building looked nice, though we didn’t use it. Negative: N/A

This property is a bit quirky, but the owners made it special. Positive: This was a very quiet retreat, in the woods.

Had high hopes, totally let down! Positive: It was a beautiful property. There was a large patio with many chairs, fire pit and grills. Negative: The room itself had an unpleasant smell to it. The furniture was old and not cleaned. The coffee maker, which sat on a dresser, had old water in it that hadn’t been cleaned out. In the drawers of the dresser was coffee and a full drawer of teas and foos items. All expired by a year or more. Towels smelled like they were washed but left in the washer a few days then pulled out damp and put in the unit. They reeked. There was a dirty washcloth in a drawer in the bathroom. The food left for us was 4 hard boiled eggs, 2 containers of random yogurt, one almost expired, and a tiny cube of butter. There was a crusty roll of bread that seemed inedible. Also, no door to the suite. It was a curtain. Whoever had access to the building has access to the room and everything you bring with you. I can’t say anything about the rest of the property, but we had to forfeit the cost of the second night because it was too bad to stay again.

Positive: Exceptional experience overall Negative: The very beginning was rocky. I did not have a chance to get the check-in instructions because I had driven 10 hours alone, and checking my phone was not a priority. It was resolved.

It’s a hidden gem in northeast Minnesota. Positive: Beautiful. Quiet and homey. The rooms were comfortable and absolutely lovely. Negative: Nothing really. I am planning on coming back.
